NNVO congratulates all successful trainees of the Initial Training 15, the initial part of the VTS training. On 16 September 2020 the successful trainees received their diplomas. Andreas Keller, Head of VTS training courses, awarded the diplomas at the NNVO office in Rotterdam. Although the ceremony was a bit different this time due to measures against coronavirus (COVID-19), there were still many happy faces.

This time eighteen trainees successfully completed the Initial Training (IT). As not everybody was able to attend the certification, only the 11 trainees present received the coveted document. The other seven successful trainees who were absent, will collect their diplomas at a later date.

Presentation
Andreas Keller gave a short presentation about NNVO, her participants and the areas where the trainees will work from now on. After that, the successful trainees were asked to step forward one by one to sign and receive their diplomas. They were also surprised with beautiful flowers and a Dopper water bottle with the NNVO logo on it.

Convivial atmosphere
To be able to guarantee the 1.5 metres physical distance there were no family members present this time. There were no drinks either, but that didn’t spoil the fun. The ambiance was great: jokes were made and people applauded for each other. After the ceremony there was still time for a chat, which created a convivial atmosphere. The trainees will continue their training at the Sector Training (ST), the subsequent VTS training.

About the VTS training
NNVO provides the Initial Training for VTS operators (vessel traffic organisers) in the Netherlands several times a year. They are trained to provide for the safe and efficient movement of vessel traffic. The training consists of a general part (Initial Training) and a second part in the area where the operator will be working (Sector Training). The seven VTS authorities in the Netherlands jointly organise this training. NNVO provides the uniform part and also the Sector Training examinations. Apart from that, NNVO keeps a register of competences.
