As a young boy he went with his father to the terminals in the port of Rotterdam. He admired all those huge ships and impressive stacks of containers. It was there that the fascination for the shipping world was born. An interview with operator Jeremy Viola.

We are almost there: the completion of Poseidon, the new e-learning for the VTS training. Exactly according to plan, from January 2021 the e-learning will form an integral part of the course material in the Initial Training programme.

NNVO voert vanaf 1 oktober 2020 een mondkapjesplicht in. Het mondkapje hoeft alleen op in de gangen en wanneer mensen zich door de verschillende ruimtes bewegen. 

Yesterday, after months of hard work we finally had the Poseidon pilot, the new e-learning for the VTS training. A group of 16 trainees were the first to test whether the e-learning meets the expectations. 

Every month, under the heading ‘Getting acquainted with…’ we give the floor to an NNVO employee. He or she tells something about him- or herself and about working at NNVO. This month it is Ysbrand Bontekoe’s turn.

An important milestone at the NNVO Nautical Curricular Strands: almost all modules can be followed online. Due to the coronavirus crisis, NNVO started digitising the lessons already in March. The response? It’s highly positive.

NNVO congratulates all successful trainees of the Initial Training 15, the initial part of the VTS training. On 16 September 2020 the successful trainees received their diplomas. 

NNVO has commissioned Saab to develop and install a Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) simulator. The simulator will be up and running in January 2021 and will be supported with a five-year maintenance contract.

Er is weer een nieuwe lichting cursisten begonnen aan de VTS-opleiding. Op 6 augustus 2020 ging Initial Training 16 van start met zestien cursisten. Zij werden bij NNVO in Rotterdam verwelkomd.
